Dr. Qing Liu

Biography

Dr. Qing Liu is a Professor and the Director of the Maritime Economics Research Center at the University of Hamburg, focusing on Maritime Economics and Global Logistics. He has over ten years of experience, particularly in transportation logistics, with a background in International Shipping Management obtained from Dalian Maritime University, China. Dr. Liu has served as Director of Transportation Economics at the Nick J. Rahall Transportation Institute in West Virginia, USA, and held positions as a research assistant at the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute in North Dakota. His extensive experience includes working with U.S. federal agencies and state governments, leading external research funding initiatives as Principal Investigator, and contributing to various maritime and economics studies. He obtained his doctorate in Transportation & Logistics from North Dakota State University under the supervision of Dr. William Wilson. Dr. Liu has been actively involved in international maritime discussions and has presented on topics like port competition, optimal routing, and multimodal transportation networks. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Transportation Economics Development of the U.S. Transportation Research Board and serves on the Board of Directors of the Chinese Oversees Transportation Association (COTA).
