Biography

Qing Tu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from Duke University in 2017, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Economics. Prior to his graduate studies, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at Peking University in 2011. Dr. Tu's research focuses on advanced scanning probe microscopy techniques, exploring interfaces, low-dimensional materials, and thin films. His work aims to elucidate the structure-property relationships in various materials, including 2D hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites and piezoelectric ferroelectric materials. Additionally, he investigates the mechanics of soft biological materials, contributing to innovations in material science and engineering. He has been recognized with several awards, including the American Vacuum Society Electronic Materials & Photonics Division Postdoctoral Travel Award in 2019 and the Outstanding Dissertation Award from his department in 2017.
