Biography

Qing Zhao joined Cornell University in 2015 as the Joseph C. Ford Professor of Engineering. Prior to this, he was a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Davis from 2004 to 2015. He has also worked as a system engineer at Aware, Inc. from 2001 to 2003. Zhao received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in 2001. He has been recognized as a Fellow of IEEE and has served as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Zhao has received several awards, including the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Paper Award in 2010 and the Young Author Paper Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society in 2000. He held a sabbatical at Chalmers University in 2018-2019 as a Jubilee Chair Professor. Zhao's research interests include Sequential Decision Theory, Stochastic Optimization, Machine Learning, Algorithmic Theory Applications, Infrastructure, Communications, Social-Economic Networks, Statistics, Machine Learning Systems, Networking, Complex Systems, Network Science, Computation, Information Theory, and Communications.
