Qingfeng Zhai is a Lecturer and ARC DECRA Fellow at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). He received his Ph.D. from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2018, where his research concentrated on the fabrication of high-efficiency electrochemical sensors. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Monash University from 2018 to 2020, focusing on the development of highly flexible energy storage and sensing devices for wearable applications. Currently, at UNSW, he supervises advanced in-situ characterization techniques and electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (EC-STM) to study catalytic mechanisms at an atomic scale. His research interests encompass carbon-based materials, electrocatalysis, and their applications in energy conversion and green chemistry, with ongoing projects aimed at screening and developing highly efficient carbon catalysts for diverse applications.
