Qiuming Yu received a B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from Nanjing University, China in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University in 1995. Following his doctoral studies, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Micro-devices Laboratory at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1995 to 1996. He then served as a research assistant professor in Chemical Engineering at Kansas State University before joining the University of Washington, where he became a full professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. In July 2020, he joined the Robert Frederick Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University as a professor. His research interests include the development of plasmonic semiconductor materials for biosensing and optoelectronic applications, utilizing an integrated computational and experimental approach. His work focuses on creating biocompatible conducting polymers for use in bioelectronics and developing new light-absorbing materials for photovoltaic devices. Additionally, he investigates the structural and optoelectronic properties of advanced materials such as halide perovskites and organic semiconductors.
