Biography

Qiuming Yu received a B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from Nanjing University, China in 1985 and 1989 respectively, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 1995. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Micro-devices Laboratory at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology from 1995 to 1996. He spent several years as a research assistant professor in Chemical Engineering at Kansas State University before moving to the University of Washington, where he became a full professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. In July 2020, he joined the Robert Frederick Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University as a professor. His research focuses on the fundamental studies of plasmonic semiconductor materials, development of devices for biosensing, and optoelectronic applications through an integrated computational and experimental approach.
