Biography

R. John Hansman is the T. Wilson Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and serves as the Director of the MIT International Center for Air Transportation. His research focuses on the application of information technology in operational aerospace systems. With over 6,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in various aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, and sailplanes, he brings significant experience in flight testing and production engineering. Hansman has authored 250 technical publications and holds six patents in his field. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, receiving numerous accolades, including the AIAA Dryden Lectureship in Aeronautics Research and the FAA Excellence in Aviation Award.
