Biography

R. Stanley Williams is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, holding the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company Chair. He earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley in 1978 and his B.A. in Chemical Physics from Rice University in 1974. His research interests are focused on nano-scale electronic, ionic, and photonic devices, along with the exploration of nonlinear dynamics and chaos, and cognitive computation. Over the years, Williams has received various awards for his contributions to the field, including the IEEE Outstanding Engineering Manager award in 2014, recognition as one of the top 10 Electronics Visionaries by EETIMES in 2012, and the EETIMES Annual Creativity Electronics Innovator of the Year award in 2009. In addition, he was honored with the Glenn T. Seaborg Medal in 2007 for his contributions to chemistry. He has made significant contributions to the field of nanotechnology, winning the Feynman Prize in 2000, among other accolades. These achievements demonstrate his commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation in engineering and technology.
