Biography

Professor Lagendijk has more than 25 years of experience leading national and international fundamental public-private research projects. Currently, he is a board member of the national AiNed program and captain of science (CTO) for the national innovation top team on ICT. He has served as a founding board member of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering and has been awarded the prestigious Antoni van Leeuwenhoek professorship at Delft University of Technology in 1999. He was elected to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2009 and is also a fellow of IEEE, recognized for his contributions to image processing. Professor Lagendijk has authored and co-authored numerous publications and has supervised over 40 completed Ph.D. theses. He has a strong teaching presence, having lectured on computer science and electrical engineering courses since 1990. His expertise extends to digital signal processing, random signal processing, computer vision, and more. He has developed educational tools used in teaching compression techniques. In addition to his educational contributions, he has held numerous professional assignments and has contributed to national AI strategies.
