Biography

Raad Mohiaddin is a Professor of Cardiovascular Imaging at the National Heart & Lung Institute, part of Imperial College London, and works at the Royal Brompton Hospital. After completing his basic medical education, he pursued a career in cardiology and joined the magnetic resonance unit at Royal Brompton Hospital in 1985. His primary research interests focus on the development and application of advanced cross-sectional imaging techniques in cardiology, particularly Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR, MRI). He is dedicated to utilizing functional anatomical information from imaging to enhance the understanding, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular diseases. His research encompasses vascular imaging, assessment of biophysical properties of the vascular wall, blood flow measurement and visualization, congenital heart disease, ischemic and non-ischemic heart disease, and valvular disease. Professor Mohiaddin has been honored with the William S. Moore award from the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine in both 1991 and 1993. He is a fellow of several prestigious societies, including the Royal College of Physicians and the European Society of Cardiology. His contributions extend to serving on scientific program committees, editorial boards, and as an assistant editor for medical journals. He has an extensive publication record and has supervised numerous successful PhD and MSc students.
