Biography

Rabie Shanti holds dual appointments in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Penn Dental Medicine and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology/Head Neck Surgery at Penn Medicine. He focuses on the evaluation and surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including oral and oropharyngeal cancers. His practice is dedicated to microvascular reconstructive surgery for oncologic cases alongside other disciplines to ensure optimal patient care and aesthetic outcomes. Dr. Shanti's education includes a D.M.D. from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and an M.D. from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He completed his Oral Maxillofacial Surgery residency at University Hospital/Rutgers University and a clinical fellowship focusing on Head Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences. He is also involved in clinical translational research aimed at enhancing treatment efficacy for head and neck tumors, for which he has received several awards, including the 2007 Daniel M. Laskin Award. Dr. Shanti actively participates in educating students and health professionals about the diagnosis and management of oral cancer and contributes to community outreach for early cancer detection awareness.
