Biography

Rachel Barney is a Professor in the Department of Classics at the University of Toronto and a Canada Research Chair (Tier-1) in Classical Philosophy. She earned her PhD from Princeton University and has taught at the University of Ottawa and the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on early sophists and the late Neoplatonic commentator Simplicius, with particular interest in ethics, psychology, epistemology, and philosophical methodology as they connect with Plato's theory of the good.
