Biography

Rachel Chambers is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia Law School and the Director of the UConn Business Human Rights Initiative at the University of Connecticut School of Business. With a doctoral degree in law from the University of Essex, UK, her research focuses on corporate accountability mechanisms, exploring the effectiveness of extraterritorial solutions to address corporate human rights violations. She investigates corporate human rights litigation and the potential impact of laws mandating human rights disclosure and due diligence for corporations. Chambers has a rich background in legal practice as a barrister in England and Wales and has worked as a consultant for various business human rights organizations, including the UN Global Compact and Amnesty International. In 2021, she co-directed the Teaching Business Human Rights Forum, contributing to the development of educational approaches in this critical area. Her courses include the L8816 S. Transnational Business Human Rights, offered in Fall 2025.
