Biography

Rachel Grange is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich since 2025, specializing in photonics. She began her journey in academia as an Assistant Professor, then became an Associate Professor. Her research interests encompass integrated optics and nonlinear nanophotonics. Prior to her current role, she served as a junior group leader at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany from 2011 to 2014, where she focused on material investigations at the nanoscale, including the fabrication of nanostructures through both top-down and bottom-up approaches. Her work largely involves thin film lithium niobate and solution-processed barium titanate for classical and quantum devices. She has explored integrated electro-optic spectrometers, random quasi-phase matching phenomena, and complex assemblies of nanocrystals for parametric conversion of signals in quantum information processing.
