Dr. Rachel Greenup

Biography

Rachel Greenup, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Surgery (Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine and Chief Breast Surgical Oncology at Smilow Cancer Hospital. She is a nationally recognized leader in breast surgery, focusing on patient-centered care and research aimed at reducing the financial and emotional burdens of breast cancer treatment. Dr. Greenup graduated with Honors from the University of Wisconsin, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and Psychology, and went on to obtain her MPH from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her general surgery residency and further fellowship training in breast surgical oncology at prestigious institutions such as Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. With over 140 peer-reviewed articles and several national recognitions, her research emphasizes aligning patient-centered care with cost-effective treatments. Throughout her career, Dr. Greenup has held numerous leadership roles, including board membership and committee participation in various professional organizations.
