Biography

Rachel Gunn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences and holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University. She is a clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University-Bloomington. Her research focuses on the etiology of alcohol and cannabis use, particularly in young adults. Her work utilizes mixed-method approaches, including laboratory and ambulatory assessments, to understand the impact of simultaneous alcohol and cannabis use on consumption consequences and treatment outcomes. Current projects include investigating the effects of perinatal cannabis use on postpartum depression, and the individual and contextual factors influencing cannabis usage. Dr. Gunn completed her clinical internship at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies, where she gained experience in the behavioral pharmacology of cannabis. She has received funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) for her research.
