Dr. Rachel Kerr

Biography

Rachel Kerr is a Lecturer in Urban Design at the University of Manchester, where she leads and teaches courses including Urban Design Studio, Urban Design Futures, and International Urban Design Dissertation. Before her current role, she worked as an Associate Urban Designer at Tetra Tech and held positions focusing on urban design with WYG and AECOM. Rachel is actively involved in the Manchester Urban Design Lab, serving as the Outreach Coordinator and participating in leadership committees. Her research interests encompass urban design processes, technical skills, and the impact of urban design on community quality. She is also engaged in various professional forums and conducts ongoing research relevant to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Rachel is preparing for upcoming events including the Urban Design Toolkit book, and presentations at significant conferences. Her professional memberships include being a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
