Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Rachel Klevit. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Rachel Klevit is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and holds adjunct appointments in the Departments of Pharmacology and Chemistry at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the molecular basis of disease and protein structure, specifically the mechanisms of proteostasis through protein ubiquitylation and the function of protein chaperones. The Klevit Lab employs a range of structural techniques including nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry, and cross-linking mass spectrometry, alongside various biochemical and molecular biological techniques. Current research interests in the lab include molecular studies of BRCA1/BARD1 complex, HHARI, and the stress response proteins HSPB1 and HSPB5, alongside investigations into the aggregation of tau. Klevit is involved in multiple graduate programs, including Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Molecular and Cellular Biology, and actively contributes to the UW/FHCRC Cancer Consortium.
Standard Graduate School requirements for University of Washington apply to most departments listed unless specified otherwise by the program.
