Dr. Rachel Mcpherson

Biography

Rachel McPherson specializes in Criminal Law and Evidence, with a particular interest in legal responses to domestic abuse and intimate partner homicide. Utilizing feminist socio-legal methodologies, she has collaborated on numerous socio-legal research projects funded by the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Scottish Government, and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Her research interests encompass access to justice, criminal law, family law, sentencing, and socio-legal research methodologies. Dr. McPherson is also involved in supervising students conducting research in criminal law, contextualizing issues of homicide and gender-based violence. She has contributed significantly to enhancing understanding of domestic violence cases within the criminal justice system in Scotland.
