Dr. Rachel Petro

Biography

Rachel Petro, MD, serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Neonatology, primarily working within a newborn nursery. Dr. Petro’s clinical interests focus on the stabilization of newborns at delivery, as well as managing conditions like neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and performing routine procedures for newborns. She is dedicated to providing guidance and reassurance to parents during challenging times, such as hospitalization after birth. Dr. Petro is actively involved in the education of residents and medical students, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary team care that includes collaboration with nurses, lactation consultants, therapists, and NICU team members. Her commitment to both patient care and education underlines her passion for improving health outcomes for newborns and their families.
