Biography

Rachel Sutherland holds a PhD and a Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology) with Honours. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. Rachel's research focuses on monitoring systems aimed at detecting trends in illicit drug use and new psychoactive substances, and she develops and evaluates novel responses to emerging drugs of concern. Currently, Rachel serves as the Deputy Program Lead for Drug Trends and leads the Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS) and the Ecstasy Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS). She is also available to supervise students at various academic levels, including Independent Learning Projects, Honours, Masters, and PhD students.
