Biography

Rachel Viscomi is a Clinical Professor at Harvard Law School and serves as the Director of the Harvard Dispute Systems Design Clinic. She focuses on training students to become problem-solving lawyers and rethinking how clients manage conflict within organizations. Since joining the Harvard Negotiation Mediation Clinical Program (HNMCP) in 2013, Viscomi has advanced from assistant director to director by 2018. Her clinical work covers a variety of projects addressing dispute systems design, conflict assessment, facilitated dialogue, strategic negotiation, and curriculum development. Viscomi has worked on projects worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, Israel, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and is dedicated to enhancing public safety and access to justice. In her courses, she encourages students to engage with conflict, both externally and internally, guiding them toward personal growth through conflict resolution. Viscomi has extensive experience presenting on topics related to facilitation, mediation, and negotiation globally. Before her tenure at HLS, she was a principal at Vantage Partners and has a diverse legal background as a civil litigator.
