Biography

Dr. Rachel Weldrick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Concordia University. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Psychology from Acadia University, followed by a Master’s degree in Health & Aging and a Ph.D. in Social Gerontology from McMaster University. Additionally, she undertook postdoctoral training at Simon Fraser University and Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr. Weldrick’s research focuses on key social issues including aging, public policy, housing, homelessness, social inclusion/exclusion, and anti-discrimination. Her recent publications reflect her commitment to understanding the lived experiences of vulnerable populations, particularly older adults facing homelessness. Through qualitative research, she explores the challenges these individuals encounter and strives to promote social integration and well-being. Dr. Weldrick also teaches courses related to Urban Health Policy and Qualitative Research Methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels, actively involving her students in innovative research practices.
