Biography

Radha Sarma Hegde is a Professor at the Department of Media, Culture, Communication at New York University. She serves as the MA Director and has a robust academic background in research and teaching focused on migration, media flows, globalization, and transnational feminism. Her notable publications include 'Mediating Migration' (Polity, 2016) and she has co-edited significant works such as 'Circuits of Visibility: Gender Transnational Media Cultures' (NYU Press, 2011) and 'Routledge Handbook of the Indian Diaspora' (2018). Hegde's research delves deeply into gender identities and reproductive politics in South India, and her ethnographic work investigates subjects such as violence and motherhood. Her contributions have been published in reputable journals including 'Communication Theory', 'Critical Studies in Media Communication', 'Feminist Media Studies', and 'Global Media Communication'.
