Biography

Radu Marculescu is the Laura Jennings Turner Chair in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1998. His research focuses on developing advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence methods for modeling, analysis, and optimization of embedded systems, cyber-physical systems, social networks, and the Internet of Things. Radu has received several accolades for his contributions to the field, including the 2019 IEEE Computer Society Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award for seminal contributions to network-on-chip design, analysis, and optimization. He has also received multiple paper awards from IEEE Transactions and major conferences, including the Donald O. Pederson Paper Award and the 10-Year Retrospective Influential Paper Award from the Asia South Pacific Design Automation Conference. An established academic, he currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for Foundations & Trends in Electronic Design Automation and has held editorial positions for several prestigious journals. Radu is a Fellow of the IEEE and was named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2022.
