Dr. Rafael Ramirez

Biography

Rafael Ramirez is a Professor of Practice at the University of Oxford, where he serves as the Director of the Oxford-Hyundai Motor Group Foresight Centre and co-created the award-winning Oxford Scenarios Programme. He is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in scenario planning, having contributed significantly to research and practice in this field. Rafael has worked extensively with a diverse range of organizations, including non-governmental organizations, corporations, inter-governmental bodies, and think tanks. He holds a PhD from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and master's degrees from York University and the University of Oxford. Prior to his role at Oxford, Rafael was part of Shell’s scenarios team and served as a Professor of Management at HEC Paris. His work involves the development of the Oxford Scenario Planning Approach, which informs public policy and organizational strategy in turbulent environments, and he has authored and co-authored numerous books and articles within this domain. In addition to his research, Rafael is a highly regarded educator, recognized for his excellence in teaching and engagement in scenario planning workshops worldwide, collaborating with leading organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and Rolls-Royce.
