Dr. Rafael Rosolem

Biography

Rafael Rosolem is an Associate Professor at the University of Bristol, specializing in hydrology, climate impact analysis, and environmental data science. His work bridges fundamental research with applied solutions aimed at addressing global water challenges, focusing particularly on the critical role of soil moisture in climate systems. His research aims to improve water resource management and agricultural productivity, especially in data-scarce regions facing significant environmental impacts. In addition to his academic role, he serves as a Water Theme Co-lead at the University of Bristol’s Cabot Institute for the Environment, collaborating on interdisciplinary research to tackle pressing environmental issues. He has successfully led numerous UKRI and EU-funded projects and collaborates closely with national and international partners, including the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency. Rafael is passionate about mentoring the next generation of environmental engineers and scientists, embedding his research expertise into teaching, and creating opportunities for innovation and collaboration in the field. He is seeking motivated postgraduate students interested in exploring the intersection of water science and climate research to tackle real-world environmental challenges.
