Rafael Santos is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph, having joined in 2017. He earned his PhD from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2013. In addition, he examines strategies for the valorization of industrial agricultural solid wastes to extract metals and reduce environmental impacts. Santos is a Fellow of Scialog: Negative Emissions Science and serves on the editorial boards of several journals. He has received grants including the NSERC Discovery Grant Launch Supplement and Ontario Ministry Research Innovation funding for low carbon innovation.
