Ragnar Francén is a Professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Gothenburg. He obtained his PhD from the same institution, defending his thesis on 'Metaethical Relativism: Single Analysis Assumption' in 2008. After completing a postdoctoral position at Stockholm University from 2010 to 2011, he returned to Gothenburg. His research predominantly focuses on fundamental questions surrounding the nature of normative moral thought and language, addressing general philosophical questions about morality. His work critically examines contextual and relativist views of moral thought, arguing for a radical version of relativism known as metaethical pluralism. He seeks to understand moral disagreement and the relationship between moral judgment and motivation. Currently, he serves as co-PI of the research school 'Norms Normativity' and is leading a research project on 'Free Foundations: Metaethical Methodological Underpinnings Free Theories', both funded by the Swedish Research Council.
