Biography

Rahel Naef is a Professor at the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care at the University of Zurich, specializing in nursing science and implementation processes related to family support in healthcare. She holds a PhD in nursing science from the University of Manchester, which she obtained in 2015 after completing her initial nursing training at the Red Cross School of Nursing in Zurich in 1996. Naef worked as a staff nurse at the University Hospital Zurich from 1997 to 2002, and pursued further education, receiving a Bachelor of Science from York University in Toronto in 2004, followed by a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Toronto in 2005. Upon returning to Canada, she led the Nursing Practice Development Unit at the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital from 2006 to 2007. From 2008 to 2016, she served as a Research Associate at the Institute of Nursing in Winterthur and later became a Clinical Nurse Scientist at the Centre of Clinical Nursing Science at the University Hospital Zurich in 2016. Naef’s research focuses on effective delivery of family support interventions in acute-critical care settings and she has published extensively on the impact of nurse-led interventions on family members' satisfaction and psychological well-being. She received the Venia Legendi from the Faculty of Medicine in September 2021 and was appointed Assistant Professor in Implementation Science in Nursing in 2020.
