Biography

Rahul Vanjani, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, specializing in primary care and addiction medicine. He is a board-certified expert in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine, focusing his career at the intersection of healthcare delivery, social policy, and technology. Rahul's academic involvement includes serving as a Macy Faculty Scholar from 2023 to 2025, where his educational work centers on integrating social care within clinical environments and employing interprofessional models to unite clinicians and community health workers. He has dedicated a significant portion of his career to serving individuals facing structural and social adversity. Recently, he acted as the Medical Director of Amos House, a nonprofit that provides integrated medical, behavioral, and social services for the homeless. Prior to that, he practiced at Rhode Island Hospital in an academic residency clinic and was involved in a recovery clinic focusing on patients with histories of incarceration and substance use. His research is aimed at understanding structural violence within health systems and the roles of community health workers in improving healthcare delivery. Additionally, he co-founded ITO Health, a public benefit corporation that builds technology to help frontline teams identify social needs and enable better healthcare delivery.
