Dr. Raj Mehrotra

Biography

Rajeshwar Mehrotra is a Senior Research Fellow at the Water Research Centre of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. His research focuses on hydrology and hydro-climatology, specifically on the development and application of statistical methods for downscaling and bias correction. He is a leading researcher in multivariate-multisite bias correction and stochastic generation of downscaled precipitation and evaporation sequences. Raj has contributed significantly to climate data applications in hydrology and climate change, developing innovative methodologies for stochastic modeling of daily rainfall at multiple locations. He leads the development of software tools such as Multivariate Bias Correction and Multisite Rainfall Downscaling, widely used in research and practice. Raj's research projects, funded by various national and international agencies, include multivariate bias correction for regional climate simulations and climate change impact assessment on water resources. With an H-index of 35 and over 150 publications since his PhD, he has made impactful contributions to the field, enhancing our understanding of climate variability and its implications for water management.
