Dr. Rajan Ambat

Biography

Rajan Ambat is a Professor specializing in Corrosion Surface Engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He leads the Corrosion Research Group, focusing on understanding corrosion phenomena through macro, micro, and nano-scale analysis, as well as electrochemical mechanisms and methods. His research delves into the relation between microstructure and corrosion of engineering materials, particularly in the context of electronics. Ambat has been actively involved in the development of PhD programs and courses that emphasize material selection in corrosion contexts and has a strong interest in applying artificial intelligence to corrosion research. His current projects investigate environmental reliability and robustness of electronic devices, power electronics control systems, and corrosion phenomena in aluminum alloys and carbon capture storage materials. He is also a visiting professor at Bournemouth University, UK, and has collaborated with multiple research institutions in exploring synergistic effects of humidity and gases on corrosion in electronic systems. Furthermore, Ambat's work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting a commitment to advancing research that contributes to global sustainability efforts.
