Rajat Gupta is an Associate Professor in the PhD Program in Biological Biomedical Sciences at Harvard University. His research focuses on gene regulatory networks that cause vascular disease through high-throughput CRISPR screens. His lab has developed expanded Perturb-seq methods that cover 20,000 genes and has identified co-regulated gene networks using artificial intelligence and machine learning methods. Gupta's work has notably led to the discovery of novel genetic variants that regulate endothelial cell shear stress response related to coronary artery disease, as documented in his publication in Nature 2024. He is also investigating the genetic variants affecting cellular function across different cell types and developmental stages, as well as utilizing novel genome-wide CRISPR screens to uncover risk pathways associated with multiple cardiometabolic traits in vascular cells, immune cells, and hepatocytes.
