Dr. Rajesh Gupta

Biography

Rajesh Gupta serves as the Dean of the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute and is a distinguished professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. His research primarily focuses on embedded cyber-physical systems, emphasizing sensor data organization and optimization analytics. He has made significant contributions to SystemC modeling and SPARK parallelizing high-level synthesis, applying these concepts in industrial contexts. Professor Gupta has led several large-scale efforts in microelectronics system design, sponsored by prestigious organizations such as the National Science Foundation and DARPA. He is currently a co-PI at the DARPA/SRC Center for Evolvable Computing, where the goal is to develop a new generation of distributed accelerated computing systems. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including the Excellence Stewardship Award from the UC San Diego Foundation and the W. Wallace McDowell Award from the IEEE Computer Society. His students have also garnered several awards for their research contributions. In addition to his teaching and research duties, he has served as an advisor to various technology companies and has held editorial positions in several reputable journals. Professor Gupta is a fellow of the IEEE and ACM, as well as a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
