Biography

Rajitha Athukorala is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the ARC Center for Data Analytics Resources Environment (DARE) at the University of Sydney. His research centers on interpretable probabilistic machine learning methods in hydrology. Previously, he served as a Research Associate at the Geoinformatics Center (GIC) of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand, where he focused on remote sensing and GIS applications to address real-world problems. Rajitha has participated in various projects related to climate projection, modeling, downscaling, and multi-hazard risk assessment, as well as mapping drones across countries in Central and Southeast Asia. He has also been involved in capacity building programs, acting as a technical lead for remote sensing and GIS applications in agriculture and disaster risk management, particularly in drone image processing for participants from India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand, Laos, and Tajikistan.
