Biography

Rakesh Behera is an Industry Associate Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. He has a Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Florida, obtained in 2009. His research focuses on materials engineering, specifically in the fields of computational materials science and energy applications. He has experience with Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations, particularly studying ferroelectric and multiferroic materials, nuclear materials, and organic co-crystals. Rakesh has contributed to the understanding of lightweight, highly damage-tolerant materials, emphasizing the fundamental role of porosity through the Composite Materials Mechanics Laboratory (CMML).
