Dr. Rakesh Vohra

Biography

Rakesh Vohra is a leading global expert in mechanism design, with a particular emphasis on game theory. His research in economics focuses on innovative ways to allocate scarce resources, particularly in environments where information is dispersed and privately held. His significant contributions to the development of game theory, auction mechanisms, and pricing theory are evident, with key examples like keyword auctions in online search engines. Vohra's expertise spans various fields, including operations research and market systems, highlighting the critical role that optimal pricing mechanisms play in these areas. He has previously held prestigious positions, such as the John L. and Helen Kellogg Professor of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences at Northwestern University and has been a part of notable academic institutions including Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. Vohra earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland in 1985 and has a rich educational background with an M.Sc. in Operational Research from the London School of Economics and a B.Sc.
