Dr. Ralf Michaels

Biography

Ralf Michaels is an accomplished academic in the field of law, currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at New York University School of Law. He is also the Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany, and has held the Chair of Global Law at Queen Mary University in London. His previous positions include Professor of Law at Hamburg University and the 2019 Arthur Larson Professor at Duke University School of Law. Additionally, he has been a visiting professor at prestigious institutions including Paris II Panthéon-Assas, Princeton University, and the University of Toronto. Michaels's research is extensively published and focuses on private international law, comparative law, and legal theory, with current investigations into decolonial comparative law and regulatory conflicts. He is a member of several distinguished organizations, including Academia Europaea and the American Law Institute.
