Following his doctorate, he conducted postdoctoral research at SUNY Stony Brook from 1996 to 1999 and held research assistant professor positions at Stony Brook between 2001 and 2002, as well as at NORDITA in Copenhagen from 2002 to 2003. He joined Texas A&M University as an assistant professor in 2003 and was promoted to associate professor in 2006 and full professor in 2010. His research group focuses on theoretical studies of spectral transport properties of hadrons and hadronic matter and the behavior of quarks in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). His research interests include the examination of color-superconducting cold dense quark matter and its associated observables, as well as mechanisms for gamma-ray bursts.
