Dr. Ralf Schlüter

Biography

Ralf Schlüter is currently a senior researcher and Academic Director at the Department of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University. He leads the Automatic Speech Recognition Group and is involved in various significant research projects on automatic speech recognition, significantly advancing the field through his work on end-to-end architectures, acoustic modeling, and decision theory. Schlüter studied Physics at Edinburgh University, obtaining his degree in 1995, and later received his Dr. rer. nat. in Computer Science in 2000. He completed his Habilitation in 2019, emphasizing contributions to automatic speech recognition technologies. His research encompasses numerous large-scale national and international projects, including participation in various EU and DARPA initiatives. Schlüter's expertise also extends to teaching, where he offers courses on data compression, advanced methods in automatic speech recognition, and neural networks, among others. He has served as a subject editor and reviewer for several esteemed journals and conferences, contributing to the academic community's understanding of speech and signal processing.
