Dr. Ralf St Clair

Biography

Ralf St. Clair is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Victoria, focusing on a range of topics within educational studies. He earned his PhD from the University of British Columbia and holds a Master's degree in Community Education from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. His extensive research spans decades, including significant projects in the UK and Canada. Notable highlights of his work include leading an EU-funded study on vocational adult education across Europe, managing a large-scale skills survey for the Scottish Government, and investigating the educational aspirations within deprived areas in the UK. Presently, he is completing a SSHRC-funded Partnership Development Grant aimed at enhancing educational aspirations in Indigenous communities throughout Canada. In addition to his research, St. Clair enjoys authoring books and supervising numerous PhD students in areas such as comparative higher education and language learning. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to education, reflecting his commitment to enhancing learning outcomes and opportunities for diverse populations.
