Dr. Ralph Diclemente

Biography

Ralph DiClemente is a trained Health Psychologist and a prominent faculty member at the New York University School of Global Public Health. He received his PhD in Health Psychology from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1984, after obtaining his ScM in Behavioral Sciences from Harvard School of Public Health. DiClemente's research primarily focuses on developing interventions to reduce HIV and STD risks among vulnerable populations. His work also emphasizes enhancing vaccine uptake among high-risk adolescents and women, specifically looking at HPV and influenza vaccines. He has authored ten CDC-defined, evidence-based interventions tailored for adolescents and young African-American women and men, and published over 540 peer-reviewed articles, including 150 book chapters and 21 books. Previously, he held the Charles Howard Candler Professorship at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and served as the Associate Director of the Center for AIDS Research. His impactful research addresses community interventions, implementation science, and health psychology, establishing him as a notable figure in public health.
