Biography

Ralph L. Keeney is a leading authority in the field of decision sciences, recognized for his substantial contributions to decision analysis and risk analysis. He holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has served as Research Professor Emeritus at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business as well as in the field of Industrial Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California. Keeney's expertise encompasses frameworks for making decisions involving multiple objectives, structured decision-making, and methodologies for managing complex corporate and governmental problems. Throughout his distinguished career, he has provided consulting services to a diverse range of organizations including Fair Isaac, Seagate Technology, and American Express, focusing on corporate management dilemmas and public policy issues. His influential writings have been published in numerous languages, with key works including 'Decisions with Multiple Objectives' and 'Value-Focused Thinking.'
