Biography

Ralph Wijers is a professor of high-energy astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in energetic explosions and extreme astrophysical objects such as black holes and neutron stars. He has an extensive research background, having studied at the Leiden Observatory and worked at the University of Amsterdam before taking up prestigious fellowships at Princeton and Cambridge. He holds a faculty position at Stonybrook University and is currently the director of the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy (API) at the University of Amsterdam.
