Dr. Ramani Balu

Biography

Dr. Ramani Balu is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. He specializes in treating Neurology and Neurocritical Care, focusing on conditions such as cardiac arrest, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and autoimmune encephalitis. He has extensive training in central nervous system infections and neurology's systemic medical disease manifestations. His clinical expertise is complemented by research interests in electrophysiology, optical imaging, near-infrared spectroscopy, and neuroimmunology. Dr. Balu has participated in multiple clinical trials, contributing to advancements in neurological treatment and care. He has completed extensive education, including a BS in Biology from Duke University, an MSE in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and an MD/PhD from Case Western Reserve University. Moreover, he has undergone rigorous post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Neurology, followed by a fellowship in Neurocritical Care at the University of Pennsylvania, solidifying his expertise in the field.
