Biography

Ramayya Krishnan is the William W. Ruth F. Cooper Professor in Management Science and Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College. He has extensive experience in management science, measurement and analysis, operations research, and risk analysis and management. He earned his B.Tech in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, his M.S. in industrial engineering and operations research, and his Ph.D. in management science and information systems from the University of Texas at Austin. As a founding faculty member of the Information Systems Management program at Heinz College, Krishnan has taught courses on e-business and telecommunications management, and has created capstone courses focusing on digital transformation that integrates technological and managerial aspects of information technology. He has received several awards for his teaching excellence, including the General Motors Technical Education Program Outstanding Distance Learning Faculty Award and the Martcia Wade Teaching Award. Additionally, Krishnan has served as an International Research Fellow at the International Center for Electronic Commerce in Korea and as a visiting scientist at the Institute of Information Systems at Humboldt University in Germany.
