Biography

Ramesh Govindan is the Northrop Grumman Chair Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science and the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). He received his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras, and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining USC, he was a member of the technical staff at Bell Communications Research and was a project leader at USC's Information Sciences Institute and the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley. His research primarily focuses on scalable and robust routing infrastructures for large networks such as the Internet, the structural properties of the Internet, and the architectures for programming systems in wireless and mobile networks. He is a Fellow of the ACM and IEEE, serving as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. He has received numerous accolades including the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and the IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize.
