Biography

Ran Peleg is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, where he is a member of the Southampton Education School and the Mathematics Science Education (MaSE) research group. His research centers on game-based learning, chemistry education, and innovations in teaching and learning. Peleg's work emphasizes the development of informal learning environments, utilizing educational games, serious games, and theater-based interventions to enhance engagement and motivation in science education. His academic journey began with a BA in Natural Sciences and an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, followed by a PhD in science education from Technion, focusing on science learning in informal environments. In addition to his academic pursuits, Peleg has substantial experience in educational project management, having worked on numerous EU-funded projects that incorporate storytelling and escape room methodologies to foster scientific inquiry. He was also awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Haifa, where he researched computerized instructional tools for blind students. Alongside his academic work, Peleg is a trained dancer and actor, integrating these skills into his teaching methodology.
