Dr. Ran Schwarzkopf

Biography

Ran Schwarzkopf, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction at NYU Langone Health. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and he was the valedictorian of his medical class. Dr. Schwarzkopf completed a general surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, New York University. He furthered his training with a fellowship in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. His research interests include clinical and basic science aspects of orthopedic surgery, particularly focusing on patients' risk aversion to new technologies in total joint replacement. He is the director of the Research Center at the Adult Reconstruction Division, conducting studies on various topics, including hip fracture fixation and outcomes of total hip replacements. Dr. Schwarzkopf is also involved in outcome research and biomechanics related to total joint arthroplasty and has received a young investigator grant from the Orthopaedic Research Education Fund.
